“My life is an open book, but I’m not going to read it to you.” ~David Hyde Pierce.

Basically, that’s how I feel. My life is an open book, only I’m going to WRITE it to you. It’s up to you whether you read or not.

I intend to use this blog to chronicle my life as I try and become something, someone. I discovered a few months before my twenty-fifth birthday a passion for writing stories. I never knew I wanted to write until I picked up a pen one day. Now I can’t stop. Hopefully, you’ll enjoy going on this journey with me to see if I have what it takes to be a “real” writer someday.

Rachel, first let me say congrats for taking this huge step! I just wanted to drop you a line and encourage you to go at your own pace. I know personally, in the past I found myself often comparing what my life should be like based on the lives of others. HUGE mistake. At times looking at what others had made me feel inferior and inadequate. Not a good feeling! So I quickly learned that everyone must take the neccessary steps to fulfill their own destiny. I applaud you b/c that is exactly what you are doing right now! With that being said, I challenge you to keep your eye on the prize and maintain your integrity and I guarantee you will have the all the desires of your heart.
Wow, Dawn! Thanks so much for your support and encouragement. This is a scary and weird thing for me, but I’m looking forward to seeing where it goes. It helps to know that I’ve got people out there rooting for me!
Rachelle,
I’ve read your writing on the TNBW website. I think you have real promise. (Keep in mind I’ve only taken one creative writing course and had no other “formal” writing education.) BUT, I’m creative and have a good sense of humor. AND I read a LOT and know what I like and what I don’t.
You write with honesty and passion. I can tell your words come from the depth of your soul! I feel that is the heart beat of every great writer!
PS. Virginity is the best thing that has ever happened to you! Don’t waste it! There is someone special out there waiting for you. Wait for him! You’re young, beautiful, creative, and talented. There are TEN MILLION girls who would give anything to be in your place right now!!
Congratulations! I’m pleased for you and offer best wishes for your success towards achieving your goal. You are a writer and your blog is evidence of this but I can infer that you want to be a Writer (capital letter on that word) and in reading all that you say I have little doubt you are getting there. 🙂
I turned twenty five three hundred years ago, 🙂 but I remember it as if it were yesterday. At that moment I had no clear idea of what I wanted to be. But I knew with certainty that I wanted to survive and progress and be happy and do something that would bring out my own unique and, at that time, partly hidden creative abilities. I had been writing – ‘scribbling’ is a more accurate description – off and on since I was in my teens and this enabled me to express myself in a way and through a medium that would, more or less, be a permanent record of my thoughts. Since that time I have become a Writer-Poet, on my own initiative, as my pages show, and I am happy and fulfilled each time I pick up my pen – incidentally I love your blog title, it’s clear and distinct in description. 🙂 I may borrow some of its words and rearrange them in paraphrase (if you don’t mind?) to describe my own blog. I have been scratching my head to come up with an interesting title.
I have your blog on my blogroll and will follow your progress. There is a newness, a freshness, a full-of-hope-ness to your “About” introduction and this is such a good thing to see. Good luck and best wishes for your aspiration and for all that you are trying to do.

How much success have you had with publishers? Do you have an agent? Are you making headway? Your writing is very good. WANT to collaborate? I have the experience in life and the stories…..you have more of the depth that I need!

Hey Bob! I actually haven’t been querying. Too afraid that I’ll send something to the perfect person before it’s really ready and then be rejected! My goal is to start queryign again in the new year. As far as collaborative projects, I haven’t really thought about it. I was never good with group projects in school, though. I am too much of a perfectionist that I end up wanting to do it all myself. And I don’t really know that I have the time to work with someone else on something. I haven’t been writing anything new myself lately, you know? But I’ll keep an open mind

I have a truly “good” love story but it needs help….Its about a married woman who recently had an affair because she was truly in love with another man, got a divorce and my story picks up as she is driving down the highway in her small town and for some unknown reason picks up a drunk. She takes him home, tries to feed him(because she needs some good deeds in her life) but he can’t keep food down, so she renames him Ralph….well the next day it turns out he was really a good man. They become friends, and then the next day, he leaves while she is at work…..She is devastated by this as she has opened up to Ralph, a complete stranger. She had purchased him a lottery ticket and a few weeks later discovers his ticket won….(weird twist but it works) She ends up going to Cheyenne with her married lover, his wife shows up there and her world is as low as it can go…..then Ralph comes back into her life and she meets his nephew…..
This is truly a nice story with a lot of hope and inspiration BUT I need a womans touch!!!! I need someone who is an absolute great writer to read over it and tell me where to go with it, how to make it better etc etc etc….that is why I asked you if you wanted to collaborate because your stuff is absolutely great!!!
